Some parties take more arranging than others.

All the usual (and some unusual) suspects have been invited.
We’re showing the movie Casablanca in our home so we, the low-tech couple that we are, had to make some adjustments.

We will watch the television after dark.
First I borrowed a large (about twice the size of ours) TV and DVD player which I set up at the end of the conservatory. Then we moved most of the furniture out because we’re going to set up four-top tables to imitate Rick’s cafe in the movie.

We used a variety of tables with a variety of tablecloths.
I spent some quality time with my ironing board pressing white table cloths for each table. We placed chairs and tables in the conservatory and dining room in view of the television set. Our dining room table was placed against the wall to allow for more room.

Love these abundant roses.
My color scheme is shades of deep red, burnt orange, brass, white. I bought 3 dozen roses in 3 different shades of red/orange at Trader Joe’s for about $20 from which I will create multiple large and small arrangements for the tables and the piano.

The sausages were prepared a day in advance.
Sug and I started making parts of the menu which we will assemble on the party day afternoon so everything is fresh.

I used red glass vases and lanterns to hold candles.
Over the past few weeks I have been collecting ruby glass (some pieces purchased at yard sales for as little as 50 cents) and spicy scented candles to set on round silver platters on each table.

Charlie is always willing to play the piano.
My true aim in entertaining in our home is to create a social experience that will bring us closer together while we have some fun so the actual party atmosphere is on the shoulders of each guest. My guests are so good at that.
