Making Do

I have cleared out the conservatory in order to set it up for a party this weekend.

The loveseat before Dash.

Dash (our dachshund) has helped to mess-up this loveseat.

Charlie and Sug moved the loveseat into the living room.  We recently got rid of the matching loveseat and this one, too, has now gone the way of the dogs — it’s tattered.

I tried to smooth the arms, seat, and back as much as possible by creative tucking.

In an effort to make it look OK I purchased a tie-on cover in sage green from the Kathy Ireland collection.  The price was certainly right at $25.  (My custom made slipcovers from 1991 were $25 a yard and each one took about 10-yards.)

The loveseat has been temporarily moved from the conservatory to the living room.

I pressed the cover with a medium-hot iron the cover before arranging it onto the loveseat which is now along a wall in the living room. The cover is plenty large for the loveseat and could probably use a few sewn-in tucks to make it fit better.

I added a few throw pillows to tie it to the rest of the room.

The “sage” color is a very dark grey-green color that would work in a lot of rooms.  It is fairly nondescript. The fabric is ribbed in a chevron pattern.

I’m sure these two will be happy when the loveseat returns.

When we move the loveseat back to the conservatory I’ll be saving this disguise for future company events.
