Partial Floor Repair

While waiting for the joint compound to dry in the bathroom my son started fixing the kitchen floor which is contiguous to the bathroom floor he repaired.

The floor in the back corner of the kitchen has been unstable for a long time.

The subfloor near the unfinished wall has been installed.

He had to replace the joist to support new 4′ by 8′ tongue-and-groove OBS subfloor.

The blue wall with the door has been totally removed from between the bathroom and kitchen and rebuilt

The new wall has yet to be covered with wallboard.

Since the bathroom is not finished this is just a partial fix to allow the family to use the kitchen all the way back to the wall which still needs to be drywalled. (The bathroom is on the other side of this wall.)

The partial fix of the floor will allow this part of the room to be worked on.

Unfortunately the kitchen needs a lot of repairs including new flooring, wall and ceiling repair, and a new exterior door frame.

The new septic line seems to be just the beginning of fixing the problem.

We’ve been distracted by the septic issue.
